To help make this possible, we have multiple tools and programs put in place to help team members set, track and achieve their goals.

With a focus on helping our team members thrive in their professional and personal lives, we offer tools and strategies to help make reaching goals more tangible.

The first of these tools is individual Objectives and Key Results, known across our company as iOKRs. This tool focuses on unlocking “superpowers” for personal career development through focus, alignment via empowerment, commitment and accountability, tracking and stretching. This provides a clear, goal-setting framework to recognize goals and the process it takes to achieve them.

Following iOKRs, we also offer performance management tools built to track the progress you make on your set goals. This tool is used to explore different areas of the business and leadership positions to keep information about new growth opportunities readily available.

Supporting our team members with a number of programs and tools keeps growth and development a top priority. We also offer the ability to earn a fully-funded degree with Rock Academy and training resources through our internal platform known as Journey.

Here, team members can watch short videos to learn strategies for resolving conflict, the art of giving effective feedback and understanding emotional intelligence. There are also business area-specific trainings for hard skills needed for particular roles.

How To: The Basics Of Goal Setting

Our Training team leader, Carmen Kelly, gives great insight and advice on how to set realistic, achievable goals. Kelly details how goal setting at Rocket Companies has given her the independence to succeed and helped her get to where she is today in her career.  “Being able to control my career choices and grow into the leader I am today is because of my drive, and the support from Rocket Companies.” 

First, create a plan. After deciding on your overall goal, set small goals that will help get you there. These small goals are called tasks, which are tactical things you need to do to achieve your larger objective.

Set deadlines for these smaller goals and your overall goal to hold yourself accountable and stay on track. Keep it realistic but challenge yourself.

Remind yourself of your goals daily. Keeping your end goal top of mind will keep up your drive and determination to accomplish said goal. It may help to tell other team members or mentors about your goal so they can offer advice when needed, help hold you accountable and help support you as you stretch to your goal.

Finally, don’t forget to celebrate the small accomplishments along the way!
