What gets you out of bed in the morning? Everyone has something different that makes them tick, but if your motor involves bringing new, innovative processes to life or working on the design and implementation of new products and services, our Technology team could be right for you!

Our Technology team provides the fuel for much of what sets us apart. Find out what it’s like to work here and check out a spotlight on a software engineering role!

An Innovative Focus With A Growth Mindset

Over the years, we’ve aimed to change the game in mortgage and real estate and we work to bring that attitude to all of our businesses. Technology is a major pillar of that strategy and we continue to grow. We currently have more than 3,000 team members on our Technology team that brought you Rocket Mortgage® and we continue to challenge the status quo every day. We recently expanded our technology teams to Canada as well. Our neighbors to the north should feel welcome to come aboard and bring their talents with them.

Powered by ISMs like “We are the they” and “Obsessed with finding a better way,” we realize that the best ideas come from a wide array of sources, and the source doesn’t always have a computer science degree. This is a welcoming environment where team members should feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. One of our programs, DevBuild, is a training program for aspiring technologists, which is open to all team members.

We also know it can be hard to think of new and fresh ideas when you’re stuck in the day-to-day work grind. We regularly have Hack Weeks. During these events, our technology team members can work on ideas that shift the paradigm for our businesses and the clients we serve every day.

To give you an idea of what you can do here, let’s spotlight a position in technology.

The Role Of A Software Engineer

We regularly hire software engineers who provide the know-how and creativity necessary to bring our products and services to life. Among their day-to-day responsibilities, a software engineer works with their team and various stakeholders to:

  • Design, develop or modify software using various programming languages
  • Squash bugs, improve quality or integrate with other software as needed
  • Analyze the needs of users for future modifications
  • Develop automated testing procedures and solutions to do software quality control
  • Translate business needs into purpose-built software which is both usable and scalable
  • Take part in design and code review
  • Assist in estimating the scope of work and how soon the product or service can be delivered
  • Decide on methods and execute software deployment

Although this is a basic outline, one of the great things is that every day is different, so there’s plenty to get excited about.
