My Journey With Rocket Companies®

In 2015, I took a leap of faith during this crazy time in my life. I had just moved back home from college for what seemed like the tenth time. I was going through a growing pain crisis; I just couldn’t seem to find my way.

Like most of you, I’m sure you’re trying to figure out what the Rocket Companies hype is about. Here is my journey (insert law and order sound here).

I remember my interview with Rocket Mortgage® like it was yesterday. I will forever remember this day, I walked into the building and felt right at home. The interview process wasn’t your normal process: my interviewers were interested in me, my mindset and what they could do to help develop me as a person and a business professional. Within a few hours I got a phone call and a follow-up email, I was officially on track to become a Mortgage Banker!

I started SAFE training to prepare for the federal mortgage banker licensing exam. If you’ve ever known anyone who has been through the SAFE exam, it’s a challenge! But here at Rocket Mortgage they’re willing to go the distance. Much to my surprise, I failed SAFE the first time and I was devastated. Rocket Mortgage did not give up on me and let me take more time to prepare and provided additional tools to help me succeed the second time around. I passed! I spent my first few months learning everything I could on the Foundation team and then I went to the banking floor. It was like a movie. All your training prepared you for this moment.

When you begin your career as a Mortgage Banker you will hear the term “hit the floor.” The banking floor is humming and buzzing with all kinds of energy! For me, I loved banking and thrived. Banking with Rocket Mortgage is not your typical sales role. The culture and the people you’ll meet will not only become friends, but family.

My advice to anyone looking to become a Mortgage Banker is to constantly and consistently look for ways to introduce yourself, be open and always carry a pen and paper (I never remember names or tidbits until I write it down). I know that may feel like a lot but it’s a blessing to get to know the Banking team, who work together to make dreams of homeownership come true.

About 2 years after I started, I was approached with an opportunity to join a brand new team working with our real estate partners as an Agent Relationship Manager. I did that for a little over a year and I loved paving the way for others currently in this role.

I then left the company for about 2 years, until I realized it was time to go back home. I joined Amrock as a Signing Agent Coordinator working with our partners on closings.

Finally, I was approached for another brand new role on the Client Protection team. This is where I sit today, continuing to learn and grow with Rocket Companies.

I always say, I did not find Rocket Mortgage – they found me! No journey is a straight one but with Rocket Companies the opportunities are endless.
