Becoming A Wellness Champion

I will be celebrating my 15-year anniversary with the organization in June! I have thoroughly enjoyed my career with the company and am continually impressed and grateful for all the fantastic opportunities – and benefits – that have been provided to us as team members.
Having been in marketing and advertising for (ahem) a few decades now, I’ve had the opportunity to work for some great companies: Microsoft, CBS, The Discovery Channel and Fox Broadcasting, just to name a few. Based on my experience, I can confidently say that it is a rarity in the business world to have a company and leadership team so committed to its team members in every facet of their personal and professional lives.
Valuing Team Member Health
A lot has changed over my past 15 years here, but one thing that has not is the incredible value leadership has placed on team members. This has been expressed in many ways, but the one overarching theme is the focus on the health and wellness of each one of us.
As the organization has grown and evolved, so have the types of benefits and access points to numerous resources, which helps set us up for personal and professional success.
The Benefits team has done an amazing job with providing a single resource for us to stay updated on information through an internal website for team members. While reviewing the site last year, I noticed a section called “Wellness Champions” and I said to myself, “That’s me!” I’ve always been interested in health and wellness, and I try my very best to incorporate it into my daily life. To learn there was a whole group dedicated to this was so exciting! I applied and became a member of the Champions.
The Wellness Champions team was created to help connect team members to all the great wellness programs, resources, events and benefits we have available. Everyone has busy lives these days, and the Wellness Champions help to keep our teams updated on new information and to answer any questions about our resources.
Beyond Wellness
Beyond being a connection point for all things wellness for the Marketing team, I have gained so much more by being a part of this incredible group of Champions. It has been a fantastic experience for many reasons!
I’ve been able to meet team members across the companies who are like-minded about health and wellness. I’ve discovered so much more about resources and benefits that we have and have regularly passed that along to my team. I’ve learned more about Healthy Eating and Nutrition, Financial Well-Being, Exercise Programs, Mental Health, Hobbies, Body Positivity, Fitness Challenges, Recipes, the list goes on and on.
Given our work-from-home structure, the Wellness Champions play an even more important role for the organization. Everyone’s situation is unique and presents challenges with now having to adjust to “living at work” versus “working from home.” We can’t connect face to face like we once did, and the Wellness Champions are here to help bridge that gap even more so than before.
We are always looking to grow and expand the team, and you can join when you become a team member at Rocket Companies®.
